Physical needs: in late adult hood you are the provider of the family (if you have one) and making sure that you are providing you children with the proper food that they should be eating to ensure they have a healthy diet, ensuring that you have good shelter comfortable environment for your children to live in or else they wont want to live in a house that they aren’t comfortable in. going out and buying your children the appropriate clothing that they need for the season e.g. making sure they have warm clothing for winter if its cold or summer clothing if its warm.
Safety and Security needs: feeling safe maybe as a parent in your own house is very important; if you feel that you aren’t safe then your children won’t feel like they are safe. Protecting your children from any issues that occur with your household and not wanting them to worry incase they do feel like they have to worry that something bad will happen and they are always listening to make sure nothing will and making sure that they are all financially secure
Social needs: Being in this range of late adult hood and still wanting to feel loved and cared for feeling like you belong and that you’re wanted. Enjoying friendships and relationships with others, being given the opportunity to mix with others and being able to be valued and to feel like your friends do need you there for them.
Self-esteem: Having a high self-esteem in the stage of later adult hood is feeling like you are worth something if you think that you have achieved something in life e.g. going through your younger days in university getting the job you enjoyed doing and not being in a job you don’t enjoy. As being an older person you expect to be treated with respect.
Self-actualisation: In later adulthood, feeling that you have made the top of the pyramid shows you that you have fulfilled maybe everything that you wanted , not being able to do it all without the help of your parents providing you with love , shelter ,clothing , warmth and somewhere nice to live. Fulfilling all of these needs in later adult hood and understanding maybe how hard it is to achieve physical needs, social needs, self-esteem & safety and security needs in your everyday life.
